Kai Montinola Sings Filipino Version of "How Far I'll Go" for Disney's Live-Action Moana

MANILA, Philippines – July 2, 2026 – Disney has officially announced that Filipina actress and singer Kai Montinolawill perform "Hangganan Ko," the Filipino adaptation of the beloved song "How Far I'll Go," for the upcoming live-action reimagining of Disney's Moana. Fans can stream the song on digital platforms beginning July 3.

For Kai, lending her voice to the iconic Disney anthem is a milestone she's long dreamed of. A lifelong Disney fan, she shared that Moana's journey has always inspired her.

"My favorite part of Moana's journey is that she didn't think she was perfect. She doubted herself at first, but she chose to face that fear. She embraced it, and that led her to accomplish greater things," Montinola said.

She added that she has always related to Moana's story of overcoming vulnerability, finding courage, and embracing the path she was destined to take.

"Moana has deeply resonated with Filipino audiences because of its powerful themes of family, courage, and a strong connection to the ocean," said Allie Benedicto, Marketing Director for Emerging Southeast Asia at The Walt Disney Company. "As a country that loves music, we're excited to collaborate with Kai Montinola on the Filipino version of 'How Far I'll Go.' Kai represents today's young Filipinos—resilient, passionate, and warm-hearted—making her the perfect artist to bring 'Hangganan Ko' to a new generation of Disney fans."

Fans will have the chance to watch Kai perform "Hangganan Ko" live at the Central Atrium of SM Mall of Asia on July 8 and at the Mountain Wing Atrium of SM Seaside Cebu on July 12. A music video for the Filipino version is also scheduled for release later this month.

The original English song, "How Far I'll Go," was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda, co-produced with Mark Mancina, and originally performed by AuliÊ»i Cravalho. The song earned a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media and received Academy Award and Golden Globe nominations for Best Original Song in 2017.
