CebuanaDiaries: A Journey of Passion, Persistence, and Cebu’s Unfolding Story

CebuanaDiaries began as a personal journey—a search for family, a deeply rooted desire to connect with my siblings and rediscover the missing pieces of my life. What I never expected was for this blog, born out of a yearning for connection, to grow into something much larger—a heartfelt celebration of Cebu itself. Over the years, CebuanaDiaries has evolved from a personal diary into a vibrant chronicle, embracing Cebu not only as my muse but as a place that feels like family.

Since 2012, writing for CebuanaDiaries has become as natural as breathing, a way of capturing the city’s pulse and spirit through words. Each post is an invitation to experience Cebu through my eyes—whether it’s a hidden café nestled in a quiet corner, a lively local event filled with familiar faces, or an exploration of the cultural gems that make this city so uniquely compelling. CebuanaDiaries has become a window into the heart of Cebu, capturing the city’s essence and sharing it with readers near and far.

After three nominations, I’m beyond thrilled (and a little in awe!) to finally be part of the Top 3 Finalists for the Best Cebu Blogs Awards (BCBA) 2024. This recognition feels like a dream come true—a nod to the journey CebuanaDiaries has taken and the connection we’ve built with the heart of Cebu.

Founded by Mark Monta in 2008, BCBA’s tireless dedication—led by volunteers and organizers, including Geezelle Tapangan-Maningo and Cebu-based judge Nancy Cudis-Ucag—continues to uplift local bloggers each year through its rigorous and diverse judging process.

BCBA's recognition of local talent fuels our creativity, reinforcing the belief that our words and stories matter.
