The Laoag City Park

I have been to this great place, Laoag City in 2012 ( you may refer to my previous blog discovering Laoag City) but I can't stop from going back to LAOAG City, as I have heard of the developments done in the place.

As part of our package from F & F travel and tours, our second day was spent to discover Laoag City. At 5 am, we already headed to Laoag from Vigan which is 30 - 45 minutes travel. First stop was the I LOVE LAOAG park. It is just across the sinking bell tower and near the tobacco monopoly statue. We took quite a few pictures in the sinking bell tower then excited to have breakfast at Jollibee Laoag.

Next stop in Laoag was the Sand dunes in Paoay. During my first visit in this place, there was no sand boarding nor the  4x4 ride similar to the Sahara dessert. I got so excited to try it this time. per head for the ride is Php500.00. I thought all it does was just to give you a fine ride all over the sand dunes, but to my shock, it became a roller coaster ride as it dropped you from a high part towards the lower side.. then it wiggled, slid and it surely gave me butterflies in my stomach; however, you'll get to enjoy shouting from the top of your lungs and later did u know, you will be asking for more!

Then, did not waste my opportunity of trying the sand boarding.. which made me sit on a board and the staff will push me to more or less 10 ft high. I indeed loved the feeling of enjoying this place which I never thought existed in the Philippines. It makes me really proud in discovering and traveling around my beautiful country.

Our final stop was the famous Paoay Church. A grand baroque architectural structure depicting the old times with great emotions as this church served as the observation post of the katipuneros during the Japanese occupation in world war II.

Inserting the description by wikipilipinas the bell tower also served as a status symbol for the locals. The bell would ring more loudly and more times during the wedding of a prominent clan that it would during the wedding of the poor.

Portions of the church was damaged during the earthquakes in 1865 and 1885. During an excavation inside the church in 2000, a prehistoric human skeleton and fragmented ceramics were discovered and are now in display at the National Museum. Former president Ferdinand Marcos declared Paoay Church as a national treasure and is now included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

I love the view of the sides of the church as it gives you a perfect shot of the striking majestic design. 

Adding up to the beautiful scenery is the stunning view of white flowers. A shot from this side is just an irrevocable thing to do when you are in San Augustine Church or also known as Paoay Church in Laoag City.
