MEET ELIO – The Dreamer from Earth
Elio Solis (voiced by Filipino-American Yonas Kibreab) is an 11-year-old with a vivid imagination and a fascination with outer space. When he's mistakenly identified as Earth’s ambassador and transported to a distant galaxy, Elio is thrust into the Communiverse—a vibrant interplanetary organization made up of alien representatives from across the cosmos. To return home, he must learn to navigate bizarre alien customs, handle galactic-scale crises, and embrace who he truly is.

The Communiverse is a spectacular realm where beings from countless galaxies come together. Elio, in his quest to belong, sips alien “glorp,” makes unexpected friends—like Ambassadors Helix, Tegman, and Questa—and learns that acceptance starts from within.
Behind the Scenes: Building a Universe
To ground Elio in real cosmic science, the creative team collaborated with renowned astronomer Dr. Jill Tarter, a pioneer in the search for extraterrestrial life. “She helped us see space as something both vast and deeply personal,” shares producer Mary Alice Drumm. Production designer Harley Jessup spent over a year crafting a diverse array of alien lifeforms with harmonious palettes to reflect the unity of the Communiverse.

Directed by visionary storytellers Domee Shi, Madeline Sharafian, and Adrian Molina, and featuring a voice cast that includes Remy Edgerly (Glordon), Brad Garrett (Lord Grigon), Jameela Jamil (Ambassador Questa), and Shirley Henderson (OOOOO), Elio continues Pixar’s legacy of emotionally rich storytelling and imaginative worlds.
A Glimpse at the Premiere
The world premiere of Elio was held on June 10, 2025, at El Capitan Theatre in Los Angeles, with stars Yonas Kibreab and Zoe Saldaña (voice of Aunt Olga) in attendance. Saldaña voices Elio’s devoted guardian, a dedicated Air Force Major who wants him to stay grounded—while he dreams of the stars.
