"Introducing Megaworld's Mactan Expo Center: Cebu's Exclusive Convention Destination"

LAPU-LAPU CITY, CEBU, April 27, 2024 – Megaworld, the country's leading hotel developer and operator, has commenced the construction of the P1.5-billion Mactan Expo Center, slated for completion next year. Set to be Cebu’s premier standalone convention and exposition venue with its own beachfront, the modern facility boasts a seating capacity of nearly 3,000 for theater-style setups.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr. spearheaded the capsule-laying ceremony alongside Alliance Global Group, Inc. CEO Kevin Andrew L. Tan, Megaworld COO Lourdes Gutierrez-Alfonso, Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Junard Chan, and local officials at the construction site, adjacent to the historic Lapu-Lapu Shrine.

"We commit to completing the Mactan Expo Center next year to host major international summits and conferences, bolstering Cebu’s MICE industry and supporting the tourism agenda of the Marcos administration," said Tan.

Managed by Megaworld Hotels & Resorts, the two-level center offers nearly 10,000 square meters of MICE space, featuring a convention hall, meeting rooms, and pre-function areas. Equipped with cutting-edge technology, the facility embodies minimalist design complemented by locally sourced elements reflecting Cebu’s culture and heritage.

Compliant with Philippine Green Building Council standards, the center integrates sustainability features such as low-emissivity facade glass and rainwater recycling facilities.

Adjacent to two Megaworld hotels with over 1,000 room keys, the center complements the thriving Mactan Newtown, a vibrant business district home to nearly 1,500 residents and 8,000 workers.

As Megaworld continues to develop the township, including the Mactan World Museum, the company remains committed to supporting Philippine tourism.

"We will continue to build more hotels, facilities, and townships that will further boost this vision," Tan emphasized.
