Tagaytay: Great Food, Great View

Tagaytay City is one of the places I have longed to visit for decades but never got a chance to as I always opt to go straight to Baguio City as I am familiar with the latter.

Not until this month that i got to travel and enjoy Tagaytay. I did some research on what I can do while in Tagaytay and where to go for one night and two days. Here's what I have to share on my Tagaytay escapade.

After two hours trip from Quezon City to Tagaytay via Uber car, I went straight to Balay Dako for a Filipino buffet breakfast for Php650 per head.

    1. Balay Dako means "BIG HOUSE" in Negrense. It is a Filipino owned restaurant by Chef Tony Boy Escalante. A big old house that is somehow renovated paving the way for people who love to enjoy Filipino food. It gives meaning of family gathering and celebration with great food. Buffet breakfast is served on the second floor and spontaneously lunch on the first floor. You may opt to be seated in the balcony where you can breathe the fresh cold air while wallowing the astounding overlooking view of lake Taal.

      2. Bag of Beans - a famous cafe that houses Tagaytay's specialty desserts. It is known for its English Pies and yummy Blueberry Cheesecake. Bag of Beans has several branches in Tagaytay. This Bag of Bean bed and breakfast branch is located at 115 Aguinaldo Highway.

3. Starbucks Coffee - If you are in search of a perfect spot for chitchat over a cup of coffee, Starbucks is the perfect place to be. A great place with an exemplary view of a foggy Taal Lake.

     4. Marcia Adams -  situated in Cavite Border of Tagaytay City and Alfonso, near Ville Sommet, Cavite City. I was in a search for a nice quiet place until I spotted this secret kitchen of Marcia Adams located 10 to 15 minutes away from the center of Tagaytay. This place is awesome! It reminds me of fairy tales like the story of Goldilocks and the three bears because of the rustic interior designs. The walls are made of stones and the place is cozy and cold. It gives an impression of The Little Red Riding Hood story as well because of the garden that sets a forest theme. Food is extraordinary. You can have a set menu for a minimum of Php700 per person which includes appetizer, main course  and dessert.

5. Sky Ranch - You would not have been to Tagaytay if you have not been to this most signifiant place, the SKY RANCH. A perfect venue for adventure with your family and friends. It is a real treat for the whole group. On top of the exceptional view of the taal lake, the laughters of the people around you exudes the positive vibes of the place.

6. Eco Hotel - the first thing that I had to take care before my travel is of course - my crib for the night. I went to Agoda. I booked at Eco Hotel for Php 3,432.33 with breakfast.  I like it there because it's found in the heart of Tagaytay just across Ayala Serin Mall. And what' s making me choose this hotel apart from the rest is their simple yet very clean ambience. With recycled items that perfectly match their wood and and environment- friendly motif. Their rooftop just says it all. It allows you to enjoy the great scenery of the foggy lake of Taal.

I can never forget their friendly white shih pooh dog named Blue as she helps in welcoming the guests of the hotel. It is your home away from home. I rate it a 5 for their staffs' hospitality and their hotel's amenities.
