Cagayan de Oro City to Bukidnon

This year marks the desire to change my destination course to the southern part of my country - Mindanao.  I have not been much to this "land of promise", thus this blog  would be the start of my discovery.
I am eyeing on going to Cagayan de Oro as I intended this trip to be with my youngest brother since it was a long weekend for us because of the holidays.

Why Cagayan de Oro?

Because Cagayan de Oro is known as the "City of Golden Friendship" and a home of the friendliest and warmest Filipinos. It is the gateway for the Northern Mindanao as you can travel to Bukidnon, Iligan City, Butuan City, Davao City, Camiguin Island and a lot more places.

As my favorite quote says from the movie Dead Poet's Society ," Seize the Day." I will definitely grab the chance to travel to three places in Mindanao for three days.

On my way to Cagayan de Oro City

I took the first flight from Cebu to Cagayan de Oro at 5:50am on a Saturday morning and landed in Laguindingan Airport after 45 minutes via Philippine Airlines.

We were fetched by a service from Wheels Auto Market and Car Rental. With contact person: Mr. Eldy "Nick"  Subrado. I was in awe that the service from Wheels Auto Market and Car Rental are all high end cars. First, we were picked up by Toyoto Hilux then we moved to a Ford Everest. You might think we spent like kings and queens on that day but surprisingly, we spent Php 3500.00 for a whole day trip.

The ride was comfortable and their driver was so friendly. With this car rental service by Mr. Nick Subrado, you can rent a car for a low as Php 1200.00, if you are planning to go on a road trip to some other places in Mindanao. This Car Rental is best recommended. You may visit their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/eldy.subrado?fref=ts

Me, my brother and my friends went straight to Saint Nicholas Inn located in Hayes St, Cagayan de Oro for an overnight stay for a family room ( four single beds ) for a rate of Php 1100.00 (not bad!) with bathroom, wifi, tv. If you are interested to check this out you can click here Saint Nicholas Inn (through Agoda or Travelbook.ph). We left our things in the Inn and went to Ayala Centrio which is just 5 to 10 mins. away from our place and had lunch in Bigbys.
At around 2pm, we headed to Bukidnon with the private car service which took us an hour and thirty minutes to reach to Dahilayan.

Bukidnon is the home to the world's biggest pineapple plantation boasting a classic golf course dating back to 1928.  Your ride to Dahilayan would really be a great exhibit of the big plantation of pineapple and corn.

Dahilayan Forest Park offers great rides and outdoor activities like Luge, Zorbit, Hanging Bridge, Tree-Top, Bungee Bounce, Trampoline;  Furthermore, It also offers ZipXtreme Activities like drop zone, zip lines, sky jumps and a lot more.

Entrance fee is Php100 for adults. And you can have unlimited pictures from every side of the forest park. The climate is very cold and the surrounding is  full of pine trees which gives  you a breath of fresh air. It contributed an impression of me being in Baguio City. Cold Rainy afternoon chitchatting with friends over a cup of coffee. Undoubtedly, a precious moment in a great place.

Among all extreme activities, my friend and my brother chose to experience their drop zone which was a very daring adventure. You can certainly scream on top of your lungs even if you are just watching them being pulled up high and speedily swinging from side to side like a pendulum.

You might be wondering how much it cost to travel to Cagayan then to Dahilayan, Bukidnon. As for me and my friends, we prepared five thousand for the trip. Every expenses we incurred including the room and the fares were equally divided  by the five of us. And gladly, we still had enough left with that money to travel to Camiguin Island. Please see my next blog to my escapade to Camiguin Island also known as the "Island born of Fire."
