Conquering Vigan City!

Heritage refers to something inherited from the past. The word has several different senses, including:
Cultural heritage, the legacy of physical artifacts and intangible attributes of a group or society: man-made heritage (from Wikipedia)
Vigan City - It is a World Heritage Site in that it is one of the few Hispanic towns left in the Philippines, and is well known for its cobblestone streets, and a unique architecture that fuses Philippine and Oriental building designs and construction.
Our next Stop was the bell tower on our way to Vigan City where “Ang Panday” of FPJ was shoot. There, we learned that there are different kinds of bells use for different occasions. The biggest bell at the center is for the regular mass service. The bigger bell that sounds lonely is for funeral, and another big bell for wedding that sounds happy and the smallest is for baptism. I personally found it fascinating to learn all these things.

Then we reached the Famous Pottery of Vigan City. The men working and making those pots are very creative. One thing I found common to all those men working was that they all have big body builts..rough big hands to form those clay to pots. It was amazing to see them work so fine and so fascinated of their products.

At Five in the afternoon, We reached Baluarte- where we were greeted by an ilokano parrot..( ilokano because he greeted us a good afternoon in ilocano dialect.) We have seen donkeys, ponys, horses,camels, zebra, ostrich and Governor's favorite pet, Tigers!

 

 

            

Last stop was Calle Crisologo, the prominent street which reminds us of Spanish time. It's a one way street of cobblestones. A step in this street made me feel like I was back in the past---hispanic era. There we can ride the 'tartanilya' for a hundred pesos. We bid goodbye to our driver and our guide.

                  

 We had our dinner in one of the filipino resto in Calle Crisologo, we ordered their very own 'pizza bagnet', then we dined in to a cafe'. Ordered 3 cups of hot cappuccino while waiting for our 10pm trip to Baguio City. We went to the Partas bus terminal (contact no. 02-7257251 or 02-7251256). fare to Baguio was at Php 240.00.It supposedly was a 6 hour trip to Baguio City but since it was near midnight, we arrived earlier than expected at Session Road, Baguio City.
