In a landmark achievement, Cebu province and city have officially recognized the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) as a key partner in nation-building through the passage of Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 16-185-2024 and Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 1736-2024. As the pioneering bank to operate in Cebu, these resolutions also commemorate BPI's centennial year of banking in the region.
The Sangguniang Panlalawigan Resolution No. 16-185-2024 noted: “BPI has been instrumental in Cebu’s economic advancement, offering crucial financial services and support to various sectors, which has significantly contributed to the province’s growth and development.” Meanwhile, the Sangguniang Panlungsod Resolution No. 1736-2024 highlighted: “On August 1, 2024, BPI Cebu celebrates its 100th anniversary of banking operations in Cebu City, marking a century of steadfast partnership with the local community.”
In response to this recognition, BPI President and CEO TG Limcaoco remarked, “We are deeply honored by this acknowledgment from both the provincial and city governments as we mark a century of BPI’s presence in Cebu. These resolutions underscore our stability and resilience and motivate us to continue positively impacting the region’s economic and social landscape, in line with our vision of supporting progress and development.”
